Doha Metro – Musheireb Station, Qatar
Musheireb Station, located in the heart of downtown Doha, serves as the central interchange hub of the Doha Metro network and is one of the largest underground transit facilities of its kind. The project was executed by a consortium comprising Samsung C&T, Obrascon Huarte Lain (OHL), and Qatar Building Company (QBC).
Ammico’s scope of work comprised the installation of diaphragm walls, ground anchors, and execution of deep excavation works. The major components of the works included:
- > Construction of diaphragm walls measuring 1,000 mm to 1,500 mm in thickness, to depths of up to 42 m, with a total wall length of approximately 800 m
- > Installation of 1,500 removable ground anchors with lengths of up to 55 m and proof loads reaching 3,800 kN
- > Execution of bulk excavation works totaling approximately 682,000 cubic metres, to a maximum depth of 36.5 m below ground level
The ground anchors installed by Ammico on this project are among the longest and highest-capacity anchors ever executed for earth-retention works in the region.
