The Abu Hamour Surface and Ground Water Tunnel Project is one of the major drainage infrastructure initiatives undertaken by Ashghal to enhance Qatar’s stormwater and groundwater management network. The tunnel extends from Abu Hamour to a pumping station located near the coast, close to Hamad International Airport.
Ammico’s scope of work comprised the construction of a plastic bentonite–concrete cut-off wall designed to prevent the lateral ingress of groundwater during excavation for the pumping station.
Installation of the cut-off wall included:
- > Construction of a 0.640 m thick cut-off wall to a depth of up to 36 m
- > Total installed wall length: 492 m
