Construction of Dolphins for Cruise Terminal at Doha Port, Qatar
With the increasing number of tourists arriving by cruise ships, the Ministry of Transport and Communications initiated measures to facilitate passenger disembarkation and streamline entry procedures. The project involved deepening of the existing navigation channel and maneuvering area, as well as the construction of breasting and mooring dolphins to extend the existing berths.
Ammico’s scope of work on the project comprised the construction of dolphins and connecting walkways. The following major activities were undertaken by Ammico:
- > Installation of offshore vertical and raked piles of 1,200 mm diameter
- > Construction of breasting and mooring dolphins
- > Fabrication and installation of walkways connecting the dolphins to the existing berth
- > Installation of fenders and bollards
